Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a height limit for the PlungeTub?

Our inflatable ice bath is designed to accommodate users who are over 6 feet tall, with a maximum height of 6 feet, 9 inches. We understand that users come in all shapes and sizes, which is why we've made sure that our ice bath is spacious enough to comfortably fit taller individuals.

Does the PlungeTub inflatable ice bath come with a lid?

Yes, the inflatable ice bath comes with a standard material cover included. An upgraded lid option is also available for purchase, which provides greater insulation to help maintain the temperature of the water for a longer period of time.

How cold should an ice bath be?

For those new to cold exposure, we recommend starting with a temperature range of 10-15 degrees Celsius. This temperature range provides a challenging but manageable experience that allows you to acclimate to the cold gradually. It's important to note that this temperature range is still extremely cold, and it may take some time to get used to it. To put it into perspective, a typical cold shower in Australia is around 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Attempting to go below 7 degrees Celsius for your first ice bath is not recommended. Such extreme cold can be dangerous and increase the risk of hypothermia or other health complications. We recommend 3 degrees Celsius as the absolute coldest temperature to avoid any potential health risks.

It's crucial to understand that everyone's tolerance for cold is different, so what works for one person may not work for another. Gradually lowering the temperature over time as you become more comfortable with the cold is a safer approach.

Remember to always listen to your body and avoid overexposure to cold water. If you have any health concerns or medical conditions, consult with a healthcare professional before starting cold exposure.

How cold does the PlungeTub Bundle get?

The PlungeTub Bundle includes the 1/3 HP cooling unit, which comfortably maintains a temperature between 5-15C. This is an excellent starting point for beginners. Over time, if you decide you want colder temperatures, we suggest upgrading to the EverestPod. The added insulation of the Pod allows for temperatures as low as 2C.

What size cooling unit does the bundle include?

The PlungeTub Bundle includes a 1/3HP cooling unit that is ideal for beginners and can comfortably maintain temperatures as low as 5 degrees Celsius.

However, if you're experienced in taking ice baths and would like to achieve even colder temperatures, we suggest upgrading to the EverestPod. The added insulation of the pod allows for temperatures as low as 2C, providing an even more intense cold exposure experience.

How long should I stay in an ice bath for?

For beginners, we recommend starting with a temperature range of 10-15 degrees Celsius and fully submerging yourself in the ice bath for 2-3 minutes. As you become more comfortable with the cold, you can gradually increase the duration of your ice bath up to a maximum of 10 minutes. However, we do not recommend exceeding this time or going below a temperature of 3 degrees Celsius.

It's essential to listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard. Slowly building your tolerance to cold is more effective than trying to endure longer ice baths too soon. If you experience discomfort, numbness, or any other concerning symptoms, exit the ice bath immediately and warm up gradually.

Do regular ice baths help with chronic inflammation and pain?

Yes, regular ice baths may help reduce chronic inflammation and pain. Cold therapy, such as ice baths, can help constrict blood vessels and reduce blood flow to a specific area, which can help reduce inflammation and pain in that area. Additionally, ice baths can help reduce swelling and soreness in muscles and joints, which can be beneficial for individuals with chronic pain conditions.

However, it's important to note that ice baths should be used in conjunction with other treatments and therapies recommended by a healthcare professional. If you're experiencing chronic inflammation and pain, we recommend speaking with a healthcare professional to determine if ice baths are a safe and effective option for you.
